New Year, New You, New Us

Join us for what seems to be another great year. We are looking to do some more events from last year like the cornhole night indoor and maybe one or two outdoors. We will be having more supper clubs and the other events will do to create a better place to enjoy. Last year we built the new bar, cooler, added new tables, chairs and even a tv or two. Our draft list is now over the drafts so it is easier to see (and larger print). The draft board is thanks to Dvelopd LLC. A local company that is creating great apps and programs.

So with this lets give you some info on our upcoming events and things of interest. Little late for today, But we are having pizza tonight and tomorrow. I will be having about 10 whisky events this year with the first happening on January 15, A scotch tasting. After that we will be having our dogfish Flight event, founders flight event and maybe some other beers that are hard to find specials. Wine night? Lets not forget our love for wine. We will be having our first wine and cheese. Details are not final yet so keep this in mind as we will be able to get some great, hard to fine wines.

This year we will be also promoting our wine retail area more. Please keep us in mind for those special wines that are not for sale in the Fine Wine, mini markets and super markets. We pride ourselves on carrying specialty wines, So check us out for some. Looking for something we don’t carry in the wines let us know we may be able to order it for you. Also as many don’t know we do offer bottles for sell when you are in for dinner. Take home what you don’t finish. Ends up being a great night.

Upcoming events for this winter.

We will be having some Christmas parties happening so these will be taking up some weekends but I have a Cornhole tournament set for Dec 16 at 400 pm. Brunch will be over so we will have the place to ourselves this night. Blakes Hard Cider will be on hand doing some samples and on draft also. Beer prices will be discounted so even if not playing in the games stop by and enjoy a drink or two. Football will be one the TV too.

After this weekend my next event will be sometime in January. Another whisky event which should be great to help everyone understand the peat progression of scotch. W

New day new stuff!

Last night I got to attend the PA Whisky and spirits show in Philly.  I was for lack of words overwhelmed with everything. I mean some great people from different distillers and a lot I did not even get to speak to. I spent most of my night tasting bourbon and whiskies. I avoided rums, tequilas and few others as this is my concentration now. I came home with some great drink ideas for both the mixed drink lover and the clean bourbon drinks. I have a photo at the bottom but here is some info on what I got.

W.L. Weller Special Reserve 90 proof Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey 750mL

The Original Wheated Bourbon Whiskey features an exceptionally smooth taste, substituting wheat for rye grain. Bottled at 90 proof, this bourbon stands out with its burnt orange color. Its softer flavor notes make this bourbon great for sipping or making cocktails.
A sweet nose with a presence of caramel. Tasting notes of honey, butterscotch, and a soft woodiness. It’s smooth, delicate and calm. Features a smooth finish with a sweet honeysuckle flair.

Yellowstone Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon, a marriage of some of the finest hand-selected bourbon available, celebrates the return of Yellowstone to the family of Limestone Branch founders Steve and Paul Beam – and the many fine bourbons to come.
Limestone Branch Distillery

Yellowstone 2017 Limited Edition Bourbon

DISTILLER: Limestone Branch (and whiskey from undisclosed distillery – most likely Heaven Hill)
MASH BILL: 7 year = 75% Corn | 13% Rye | 12% Malt; 12 year = 75% Corn | 13% Rye | 12% Malt; 4 year* = 75% Local Heirloom White Corn | 13% Rye | 12% Malt
AGE: NAS – but includes a blend of 4*, 7 and 12 year-old Kentucky straight bourbons
YEAR: 2017
PROOF: 101 (50.5% ABV)

NOSE: Charred Oak | Pecans | Rye | Cocoa

TASTE: Dark fruits | Leather | Cinnamon | Oak
FINISH: The rich dark fruits and leather drop off pretty quickly leaving a finish consisting of mostly spice, oak and a hint of caramel. And sadly there was no back of the throat surge/burn.

SHARE WITH: New bourbon drinkers will not enjoy this anymore than they would a $20 bottle of whiskey. To really appreciate what this has to offer requires a more experience palate. Share with folks who have an opinion about their bourbon and also enjoy trying new things – even if it means getting outside of their comfort zone.

Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey
Proper No. Twelve // Ireland

Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey is a brand founded by Mixed Martial Arts Champion Conor McGregor under his Eire Born Spirits company. The name refers to the southwest area where McGregor hails, Dublin 12. McGregor worked in concert with master distiller David Elder, formerly of Guinness, to decide on the final blend selected from almost 100 blends. This is a triple-distilled blended whiskey matured in former bourbon barrels. Notably, the company will donate $5 for every case sold to local first responder organizations & charities up to $1 million annually.
Comprised of both single malt(s) and single grain(s) often from many different distilleries; if Scotch or Irish must be aged for at least three years in oak barrels; Irish may include single pot still whiskey in the blend.
